Majestic Mountains and Rainbow Fountains
Yesterday, Maria, Victor, Ruth, Paqui, and I went to Montserrat which is a major mountain range in Catalonia. By far, this is one of the most amazing places I have been in my life! Montserrat got it's name from it's saw like peaks because in Catalan it literately means saw. As we were driving to the mountain, I was breathless from the sheer size and beauty of the mountains(also was a little scared of driving off the mountain...just a little). We definitely don't have anything like this back home on Long Island! If I could recommend to go anywhere when you visit Barcelona, visit Montserrat! Also, when you go Montserrat you will find a monastery which is home to about 80 monks. This sanctuary is in honor of the Saint Virgin Mary of Montserrat.
Later at night we went to see the Magic Fountain of Monjuic because at night it lights up and puts on a cool water show. But, when we got there was a HUGE party going on for Gay Pride and it was very crowded. Spaniards + the gays = super party animals LOL. It's amazing to see locals and tourists in the streets and being civil. There were no bigots in the streets with signs unlike America. Maybe there's some hope after all for the USA, I means it's possible right?
Today we went to Port Olympic Beach which is located next the Olympic Village from the 1992 games. Although I am fond of my NY waves, it's nice to have calm waters with no waves.
